Flower Care
Your Flower Baskets Need 3 Things - Water, Food, Attention
The Basics -
Water every day at least once. Its hard to say how much but a good start is..
12" and 14" hanging and 14" moss - 1 gallon
16" moss, bloom - 2 gallons
Large bloom and XL bloom - 3 gallons
These amounts can change based on the basket location (sun/shade/wind) and plant varieties
Fertilize every 2 weeks
Using a bloom booster - Miracle Gro, Jacks, FoxFarm - they are all similar, follow instructions
Petunia Pruning
-
July 26 - before
The petunias in this planter were starting to get leggy. Wanting them to look beautiful throughout the summer and early fall, I knew it was time to prune the petunia planters.
-
July 26 - after
The petunias were pruned back about 1/3, then watered and fertilized. Even though most of the flowers were trimmed off, new blooms were only a few days away.
-
August 14 - Comparison
A couple weeks later, you can see the planter on the left that received a trim is thicker and blooming beautifully, while the untrimmed planter on the right, although watered and fertilized the same, is looking thin and scraggly.
